Let Me Introduce Myself.
Hi, I’m Stephen Kurkinen. I’m a Christian, husband, the father of 5 girls, and currently living in Asia, where I’ve been teaching English for 12 out of the past 16 years. I come from Portland, Oregon, but somehow found myself living in the middle of the East China Sea on the beautiful island of Taiwan, surrounded by rice paddies, bamboo groves, jungle-covered hills, and small farming communities.
The PassionOne of my greatest passions in life is to teach others. I love seeing the transformation that happens when people learn new things and their lives are improved. In the past I have taught English in every environment possible: at kindergartens, elementary schools, jr. high schools, high schools, universities, cram-schools, churches, in student’s homes, at restaurants, and online via my home computer.
The PlanIt is my great desire to come along side you and help you in your English learning journey. My goal through this website is to create content that equips and inspires you to learn English and use it every day. I’ll be sharing videos and lessons primarily related to the topics of English language learning, conversation, pronunciation, and English mastery. If they’ve been helpful, or encouraging to you in any way then I will consider it a mission accomplished. I hope that through this website; through the lessons, videos, resources, and your comments and interaction with others, that you would be better equipped use English in your everyday life.
Stay ConnectedIf you’re interested for English-learning content that’s targeted towards English mastery, then this is the website for you. I will post new content every week. To make sure you don’t miss any of my latest lessons or videos, go ahead and subscribe via email. They will get sent straight to your inbox. You can unsubscribe at any time.
The Lord has been most gracious to bless me with a God-fearing, amazing, & beautiful wife, Sung Chi Fang (Christy). She is my best friend, the best wife in the world, and the greatest mother as well. We have 5 beautiful and precious girls, named Adeline, Bethany, Joanna, Elizabeth, and Olivia. Each one is unique, and each one is a blessing. Coming from a family of 7 boys I am now in overdrive mode trying to learn how to navigate in a world of women.
We are currently homeschooling our three eldest children. We are convicted about the need to train them up in the way that they should go. They enjoy cooking with their mother, drawing, sewing, catching geckos and caterpillars, raising chickens, and exploring outside.
My parents have been the greatest Godly influence on my life, and I am grateful for their sacrifice and love. My dad exemplifies what it means to be a faithful man after God’s own heart. And my mom is a beautiful picture of the Proverbs 31 woman.
Each one of my 6 brothers is awesome. And each one has played an integral part in my understanding about what it means to be a man. Thank you guys!
