This Lesson

If you went on a trip around the world, where would you like to go? what activities would you like to do? In this conversation we will practice using English to plan out the perfect trip around the world. Try the “Creative”conversation with someone else, and have fun! If you need help, please try the “Completed” conversation as well.


Instructions: Fill in the blanks using vocabulary you already know. For help, you can look at the conversation in the first tab which has the blanks already filled in.

A: Hello, my name is _________ and welcome to __________ Travel Agency. How can I help you today?

B: Hello, my name is __________ and I would like to take a trip around the world.

A: Wow! That sounds exciting. And, what will be the duration of your trip?

B: I would like to leave __(When?)__, and I want the trip to last for __(How long?)___.

A: __________. Ok, please tell me which countries you would like to visit, and what activities you would like to do during your stay.

Stephen: Hello, my name is Stephen. Thank you for calling “Stephen’s Adventures” Travel Agency. How can I help you today?

James: Hello, my name is James and I would like to take a trip around the world.

Stephen: Wow! That sounds exciting. And, what will be the duration of your trip?

James: I would like to leave next Monday, and I want the trip to last for 2 months.

Stephen: Sure thing. Ok, please tell me which countries you would like to visit, and what activities you would like to do during your stay.

James: Ok, first I would like to visit Iceland, and soak in the hot springs.

Stephen: Ok, enjoy the hot-springs in Iceland. What else?

James: Next I would like to go to France and see the Eiffel Tower.

Stephen: Ok, see the Eiffel Tower in France. That sounds great. Anywhere else?

James: Yes, and finally I would like to go to India, and visit the Taj-Mahal.

Stephen: Fantastic! Visit the Taj Mahal in India. Wow, it looks like you are going to have a wonderful time. And, would you like to fly economy, business, or first class?

James: Um, I would like to fly Economy class, please.

Stephen: Ok, and do you have any special needs for your airplane meals? Do you have any preferences or allergies?

James: Well, I’ll just take the regular meals that are provided.

Stephen: Ok. And what type of living accommodations would you prefer? Hostels, Bed and Breakfasts, Hotels, Resorts, or something else? 

James: I would prefer to stay in hostels because I don’t want to spend too much money.

Stephen: Ok. Do you have a valid passport and the required visas for each of the countries you will be visiting?

James: Yes, I have all of the visas taken care of, and my passport is still valid for 1 year.

Stephen: Ok, that’s fine. Alright, your world-trip package, visiting Iceland, France, and India, flying economy class, with regular meals, and staying in hostels will cost around $5,395 U.S. dollars. 

James: Hey! That’s great! Thanks a lot.
